The Isle of Palms Recovery Center provides comprehensive addiction treatment programs addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those dealing with alcohol and substance abuse and the dual-diagnosed. Located in beautiful Fort Myers Beach, Florida, we incorporate our serene natural setting to promote healing from within. We offer a variety of treatment options to ensure that your efforts to overcome your alcohol, drug or substance addiction are supported by the most proven, effective methods available.
Substance Abuse Treatment Services:
Leaving treatment prematurely or abruptly decreases one’s odds of success. This is why we believe in stepping down through the levels of care to gradually increase autonomy: giving you a chance to practice your newly-learned skills with the ability to still process your experiences with your treatment team. We liken it to walking down the stairs instead of jumping off of the porch.
Day / Night Program:
Overcoming addiction requires dedication and a concerted effort; not just from the individual, but from treatment providers, family, and friends. Our day/night program is a 24-hour program that typically involves a stay of multiple weeks, depending on the needs of the individual. During that stay, individuals spend their time in a minimum of twenty (20) hours of therapy each week. Each participant has an individual therapist and participates in group therapy. These groups utilize a variety of treatment modalities and are adapted to meet client needs. In addition to traditional classroom-type learning, we incorporate experiential therapy via excursions such as kayaking, sailing, or hiking.
Intensive Outpatient Program:
Our Intensive Outpatient Program offers a minimum of nine (9) hours a week for those looking for accountability to a program, but not requiring a full-time program. Participants have an individual therapist and are involved in group therapy. This is a transitional level of care which encourages independence, but still provides structure and support.
Our outpatient programs provide flexibility for those seeking treatment that works with their life and schedules as well as for those stepping down from more intensive programs but wish to maintain a consistent therapeutic system of support. Outpatients receive 1-2 hours of therapy a week, depending on need. Therapy appointments may be arranged to meet the needs of clients with busy schedules.
Part of our eco-therapeutic approach recognizes that, while therapy and psychiatric analysis can help to heal and strengthen the mind, the soul must also be healed. There are many ways to do this, but we find that experiential therapy is a good way to start. To smile, laugh, and do something you’ve, perhaps, never done before – all in the beautiful, coastal environment of southwest Florida’s piece of the Gulf – will help you connect with yourself and a higher power in ways you may have forgotten or never knew possible. Whether it be sailing, fishing, art therapy or a simple walk on the beach, we’ll work to help you find peace and joy through this therapy.
We offer traditional therapy modalities such as CBT but have a strong emphasis on experiential therapies- utilizing our interesting environment and tranquil waters. We find that meditation and relaxation on the beach starts the minute your feet hit the sand and is more effective than all classroom environment. Walking through a natural mangrove boardwalk to process thoughts instead of a stuffy office.... We do have plenty of classroom time to meet therapeutic service hours.
Groups are facilitated by our professional clinical staff. We have a psychiatrist/addictionologist and RN on staff as well to address medication management. Our clients are transitioned from Day/Night (PHP) level of care through Outpatient- given a chance to utilize their newly learned skills as they progress to independence and back to their life at home. Families are involved in treatment to the extent the client allows but family and other support system involvement is encouraged. For motivated, high functioning clients that want a low client to therapist ratio we are the ideal fit.
